The Books Wanderer is an online shop selling reading accessories. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can switch off. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal filler.
Who is responsible
The Books Wanderer operates this site and decides how your data is used. For any question about this policy, or to exercise the rights below, write to hello@thebookswanderer.com. We answer within 5 working days.
What we collect, and why

Cookies and your choice
We use two kinds of cookies and similar storage:
- Essential. Your shopping cart, your session, and our own visit statistics. These stay on this domain, are never sold or shared, and the shop cannot work without them.
- Advertising measurement. The Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API, which tell us whether an ad led to a visit or a purchase. These only load if you accept them. If you choose "Only essential", no Meta cookie is set and no event is sent.

Who else sees your data
- PayPal — processes the payment. We never see or store your card details.
- CJ Dropshipping — receives your shipping address to send the parcel.
- Resend — delivers our order emails.
- Meta — only if you accepted advertising measurement. Data sent for matching is hashed before it leaves our server.
Some of these providers operate outside the UK and the EEA. Where that happens, transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses those providers publish.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for 6 years, because tax rules require it. Our own visit statistics are kept for up to 365 days. Advertising measurement data is retained by Meta according to their own policy.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our legitimate-interest processing, or withdraw your advertising consent at any time. Write to hello@thebookswanderer.com and we will action it within 30 days. If you are in the UK you may also complain to the ICO; in the EU, to your national data protection authority.
Children
This shop is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site.
