Where our parcels come from
We are a small boutique, not a warehouse. Our accessories are made and dispatched from our supplier in China, which is how we keep a hand-picked catalogue at these prices. It also means delivery takes longer than a domestic order, and we would rather tell you that here than surprise you after you have paid.
How long delivery takes
The exact figure for your country and product appears on the product page as soon as you pick a destination — that number comes live from the carrier, not from a marketing estimate. As a guide:
| Region | Typical delivery |
|---|---|
| United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Poland, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand | 4–11 days |
| United States, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Australia | 5–11 days |
| Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium | 7–15 days |
| Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, South Korea, UAE, Nordics inland | 12–60 days |
These are carrier working-day estimates and can stretch during peak season or customs checks. They cover time in transit: packing at our supplier happens first, and we do not promise a fixed turnaround for it.
What shipping costs
Nothing. Shipping is free to every country we ship to, and the cost is already inside the price on the product page — there is no separate line added at checkout and no threshold to reach first. The price you see is the price you pay.
Delivery times still vary by destination, so the product page quotes the carrier's real estimate once you pick your country. That estimate is what the carrier tells us, not a number we would like to be true.
Customs and duties
Most orders at our price point arrive without extra charges. If your country does apply import duty or VAT on arrival, that charge is set by your customs authority and is payable by you. We cannot calculate or absorb it.
Tracking
You will get a confirmation email as soon as your payment goes through, and a second email once the parcel is dispatched — with tracking as soon as the carrier gives us a number. If the tracking has not moved after 10 days, write to us and we will chase the carrier for you.
Something arrived damaged or faulty
Tell us within 30 days of delivery and send a photo to orders@thebookswanderer.com. We will replace it or refund you in full, including the shipping you paid.
You do not need to send anything back. Return postage to our supplier costs more than these items are worth and takes months, so we would rather you keep the piece and we solve it on our side.
One favour, and it genuinely helps: message us within 48 hours of the parcel arriving if it is damaged, with a photo of the item and of the packaging. Our supplier gives us a very short window to claim, and a quick photo is the difference between us recovering the cost and absorbing it. Your 30-day right stands either way — this is a request, not a condition.
You changed your mind
You have 14 days from delivery to tell us, in line with your statutory right to cancel a distance purchase. Write to orders@thebookswanderer.com and we will refund the product price.
For most of our catalogue we will not ask you to post the item back — the return journey costs more than the piece. If we do need it returned we will tell you and give you an address; return postage would be yours to pay.
Refunds go back to your original PayPal payment within 14 days. Nothing on this page affects your statutory rights.
Orders that never arrive
Parcels do go missing, and the estimates above are carrier estimates, not promises. If yours has not arrived 30 days after the end of the window for your country, contact us and we will resend it or refund it in full — you choose which. If tracking has clearly stopped moving before then, write to us anyway and we will start chasing it.
Cancelling
We can cancel an order at no cost as long as it has not been dispatched — usually a window of about 24 hours. Write to us as soon as you can and we will try.
